We evolved to want to fit in to the group and be accepted by our peers. In our evolutionary history, if we didn’t we weren’t accepted by the group or tribe then we would have died in isolation. As a result, it’s no surprise why so many people spend so many resources on wanting to fit in and be “normal.”

The problem with that mode of thinking now is that the mass of people are living lives of quiet desperation. They are running the rat race and not truly living their lives but rather, merely existing through the motions of it.

It’s time as individuals that we separate ourselves from the masses, not physically because community is a NEED for human beings but emotionally and mentally. Becoming the black sheep is where you’ll find everything you want out of life because in reality, our society is sick and dysfunctional.

In the age of consumerism, we’re constantly bombarded with advertisements, gadgets, cars, houses and other things that society will have us believe that we “need.”

How can we separate ourselves from the herd mentally?
